某一種土或路面材料的佳含水量和大干密度是隨壓實(shí)功變化而變化的。對(duì)同一種土或同一種級(jí)配集料而言，擊實(shí)功增加時(shí)，其佳含水量減小，而大干密度增大。在工地用壓路機(jī)碾壓時(shí)，同樣是這種規(guī)律。

所用的壓實(shí)機(jī)械對(duì)一定含水量下的路基土和路面材料的壓實(shí)狀態(tài)有很大的影響。使用輕型壓路機(jī)只能得到較小的密實(shí)度。使用重型壓路機(jī)可以得到較大的密實(shí)度。振動(dòng)壓路機(jī)比相同質(zhì)量的普通光面鋼輪壓路機(jī)的壓實(shí)效果好得多。不但密實(shí)度大，而且有效的壓實(shí)深度也大(含水量大的粘土除外)。
